Now that they're ballooning the main game's price to inexplicable, company-destroying prices, SE's price actually makes sense compared to the main game - that is, they're both overpriced in about the same proportion. ![]() When it cost the same as the main game, that made little sense. The map may be the same size (don't know) but there's less going on in it, fewer animals, fewer different kinds of areas, smaller and simpler caves, etc. SE has its bottlenecks but they feel more like an integral part of the setting than an arbitrary, makes-no-sense PVP mechanic.īut SE is definitely a "smaller" game. The Island makes several must-have things have very limited choices in where to get them in ways that seem like bad design, except for the "PVP players can pwn everyone!!!!11!111!!!!11111!!" play style. I also like the differences in SE in what's scarce versus common, and what's in one place versus all over. ![]() Scorched Earth is a refreshing change of pace, and I think the map is better than The Island in several ways - it's much more beautiful, its layout is more interesting, it feels more like a polished product, and it feels like it all fits together in ways where the Island feels like a bunch of stuff dropped into place without much rhyme or reason.
